Lord of the Fly Girls
Roschman Dance is proud to present the premiere of its third evening length production, Lord of The Fly Girls, at the Main Stage Theater at the West Side Dance Project.
Lord of The Fly Girls examines the intersection between violence and sexual maturation, the exploitation of the youth culture, and dangerous interplay of shame and lust in the education of contemporary young adults.
Continuing it's commitment to dance education and the need to make dance more accessable across diverse communities, Roschman Dance has partenered with Stuyvesant Town/Peter Cooper Village to provide ongoing dance education to the residents of this exciting and unique communiting.
In November of 2011 we offered a month long series of dance fitness classes greared towards adult beginners.
Currently, we offer childrens movement classes to members of OVALkids- Fridays 3PM-4PM

Sean Roschman was born in Chicago, IL where he was first introduced to Gymnastics. He began his formal dance training at age 12 in Chicago. Since then he has studied Dance and Directing at NYU, where he received his BFA. He has danced professionally with Damast and Dancers, Linda Diamond and Dancers, The Wallis Knot Performance Group, and Malleable Dance Theater. His work has been presented at the Hudson Guild Theater, The Ailey Citigroup Theater, Marquee Nightclub, The New York Conservatory for the Dramatic Arts, and at New York University.
His company Roschman Dance has been comissied by Cirque Du Soleil's Non Profit "Onedrop.org", New York City Fashion Week, The Maratime Aquarium of Norwalk, Stuyvesant Town's "Summer on the Oval" Festival, and HEREarts.
One of the founding members of Roschman Dance, Dannie has been involved in every production with the company, and in 2009 was made an Artistic Associate. Both an accomplished dancer and actress, Dannie recently graduated with a degree in Film Acting studies at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts; having appeared in "Macbeth" and "I Am A Camera".
Carolyn Barry
is originally from Chicago where she quickly discovered her passion for movement through groove-finding, fist pumping, and push-up rolls. Carolyn danced for AMEBA Acrobatic and Aerial Dance from 2004-2006 and went on to study dance at the University of Illinois. There she studied under such teachers and choreographers as Jan Erkert, Sara Hook, Renée Wadleigh, and Linda Lehovec. After receiving her BFA in 2010 Carolyn relocated to NYC where she has been grooving, fist-pumping, and push-up rolling with Roschman Dance ever since.
Alexandra Mount-Campbell is originally from Columbus, Ohio. She received her dance training from BalletMet Columbus. Alexandra has a BFA in dance from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. While pursuing her degree she also danced with Fort Worth based ballet company, Ballet Concerto. Since moving to New York City, Alexandra has danced with several dance companies including: KDNY dance company, Albano Ballet, Tina Croll and Company. She also had the opportunity rehearse and perform Missa Brevis with the Limon Dance Company. Alexandra began dancing with Roschman Dance in Spring 2009.
Michael D. Gonzalez grew up in Twin Cities, Minnesota, where he trained at Larkin Dance Studio under the direction of Michele and Shirley Larkin. In 2011, he graduated with a BFA in Dance from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. While at school, he got the opportunity to dance with Andrew Jannetti and Dancers, the Charles Weidman Foundation, Trisha Brown Dance Company, and Lucinda Childs Dance. Since graduation, Mr. Gonzalez has performed with the Metropolitan Opera in their 2011-2012 season’s production of “Faust” and has stayed on as a performer with the Charles Weidman Foundation. He currently is a dancer with Roschman Dance and Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance Company.
Maryann Peterson has been with Roschman Dance since the end of 2009. She received her Bachelors in Fine Arts Degree specializing in Dance Theatre at the University of Hawaii at Manoa where she worked with Gregg Lizenbery, Betsy Fisher, Peggy Gaither Adams and special guests such as Bebe Miller, Sarah Gamblin, Lance Westergard and more.
After moving to New York, she choreographed/performed in Fertile Ground at Dance Entropy, danced in Kristina Donello's Power 2, stage managed at Theatre for New City, choreographed/performed for a charity show called Laughter is the Best Medicine, worked with Eileen Connelly in her theatre group Wallis Knot, and appeared in numerous productions with Impetuous Theatre Group at Center Stage and various other venues. As well as dancing for Roschman Dance, Maryann is a Freelancing Transcriber with the Dance Notation Bureau, and is going to school for a Nursing Degree.
Trained at the N.C School of the Arts conservatory before moving to NYC to earn a degree in Psychology and Dance from Columbia University. While in school she also trained on scholarship at the Merce Cunningham School and the American Dance Festival. As a dancer she has had the pleasure of working with David Dorfman, Bill T. Jones, Liz Lerman Dance Exchange and Gerald Casel. As a choreographer her work has been presented in various venues in NY, NJ and NC. In addition to her work as a dancer, Brittany is also an accomplished singer/songwriter and voiceover artist. She is excited to have launched her own recording and production company in the summer of 2011. She joined Roschman Dance in 2009 and is honored to be working with such an extraordinary group of artists.
Jonathan Cooper
Jon Cooper is happy to join Roschman Dance for its 2012 season. Originally from East Greenwich Rhode Island, Jon started dance and theater training at age 8 and moved to New York after graduating from Skidmore college in 2008. Since then he has performed in regional theater, cabarets, corporate events, feature films, and was a principle member of The A.O. Movement Collective for two years. Many thanks to my friends and family for their artistic and emotional support in the new year. Jon currently lives in Brooklyn.

In 2009, Roschman Dance was selected to choreograph the New York City Prortion of the groundbreaking artistic happening "Moving Stars For Earth And Water".
What transpired was a 175 person dance event in the middle of Times Square
Moving Stars and Earth for Water was an artistic happening broadcast online, organized on the occasion of the Poetic Social Mission seeking to raise everyone's awareness of water-related issues. The Mission is carried out from space by Guy Laliberté, Founder of Cirque du Soleil and President of the ONE DROP Foundation.
This artistic event took place through 14 cities around the world and brings together personalities such as Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, Dr. David Suzuki, Peter Gabriel, Salma Hayek, Shakira, U2 and many others who join voices with Guy Laliberté to celebrate water.
In the Summer of 2011 Roschman Dance was commissioned to create a full full length orginal dance production, becoming the first dance company to be Commissioned for the prestigous summer festival "Summer on the Oval"
Ovaclicous Mambo tells the story of 9 young New Yorkers in the 1970's, struggling with love and loss in their late teens.
